This year the shrine Medjugorje opened its doors to thousands of pilgrims in another youth festival
which will be held from 1st till 6th of August 2012. Every year this festival visits over 50 000 young people
from different parts of the world. Their only goal is come closer to God and through prayer find their
The initiator of the youth festival was Franciscan priest Slavko Barbaric, back in 1989th, when he
gathered hundreds of young people who expressed their thanks to God and Queen of Peace by praying
and singing. Every year the number of participants increased, and youth festival in Medjugorje soon
grew into an international festival, accompanied by many journalists from all continents.
International youth festival 2012 in Medjugorje will bring together the unanimously prayer, song,
Mass, confession, adoration and young people will have the opportunity to hear many of life’s moving
testimony or participate in various programs. The program will start 31st of July, bringing together young
people in the common prayer of the Rosary, the evening Mass, prayers for healing and adoration.
On Wednesday (1st of August) after welcoming and presentation of the festival participants, starts the
rosary, evening Mass and Adoration. The program for the remaining days starts with morning prayers,
lectures and testimonies and the afternoon program continues with praying the rosary, evening Mass
On Saturday (3rd of August) the pilgrims will participate in a ceremonial procession with torchlight and
flags of their countries and after the evening mass, the members of the Community “Cenacolo” will
traditional play their performance which each year spread the powerful message of God’s activity in
our lives. On Sunday (5th of August) after the evening Mass and adoration, all participants will praying
and singing late into the night. This year’s Youth Festival will end on Monday (6th of August) with the
common prayer of the Rosary and Holy Mass on the Cross mountain.
